Neuromuscular Stimulation
Functional neuromuscular stimulation attempts to replace stimuli from damaged nerve pathways with sequential electrical stimulation of muscles to enable injured patients to regain healthy muscle tone and strength. Neuromuscular stimulation may be used when muscular atrophy (loss or shrinkage) or loss of strength is present. This therapy helps recovery time and improves function especially after a surgery or trauma which results in damage to the nerves.
